Our Jurisdictional Prelate & First Lady

Bishop Glimp 2Bishop Guy L. Glimp, a humble servant, is the son of the late Superintendent James and Mother Hazel Glimp. A son of the church, Bishop Glimp grew up and actively served at the Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Reading, PA under the leadership of his father until 1980. He moved to Philadelphia and joined the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, where he was mentored by the late Bishop O. T. Jones, Jr.

In 1982, Bishop Glimp submitted to the call of God.  His heart for ministry matured while at Holy Temple.  After a decade of service, he was ordained by the late Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. in 1992.  Bishop Glimp was sent to the Sanctuary Church of God in Christ which is located in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. There he served with Mother Helen Massey, the wife of the previous pastor, the late Dr. Otis Massey.  In 1995, he was appointed the Pastor of the Sanctuary Church of God in Christ.  Under his leadership, the ministry has experienced tremendous growth. His fundamental mission is to evangelize the lost, edify the believer, equip the saints for ministry and grow the local church.  Bishop Glimp holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Shippensburg University and Stonier Graduate School of Banking.  He has been conferred the Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) and the Masters of Sacred Theology (S.T.M.) degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

In 2012, this multi-talented leader was appointed by Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel, Sr. as the Third Administrative Assistant of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, affectionately known as the “Commonwealth”.  Bishop Glimp also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Jurisdiction with responsibility for all banking and investing activities for 18 years.

On Sunday, November 12, 2017, during the 110th International Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ in St. Louis, Missouri, Bishop Glimp was consecrated an Auxiliary Bishop by the Presiding Prelate, the Most Reverend, Bishop Charles E. Blake.

On April 20, 2018, Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel, Sr., who faithfully served the Commonwealth Jurisdiction as its leader, transitioned into eternal life.  On April 30, 2018, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, met with the Superintendents, Pastors, Elders, and leaders of the Jurisdiction to establish order.  During that meeting, he asked, “Who feels that they are called by God to lead this Historic Jurisdiction?” Bishop Guy L. Glimp stood by the leading of the Holy Spirit.  Bishop Blake named himself the Interim Prelate of the Commonwealth and appointed Bishop Glimp as the Administrative Assistant to the Bishop. On Friday evening at the 98th Holy Convocation, the General Secretary of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Joel H. Lyles, read the Letter of Appointment to the Office of Jurisdictional Prelate.  The Presiding Bishop, Charles E. Blake officially appointed and blessed Bishop Glimp as the Leader of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

In the National Church, Bishop Guy L. Glimp is the Dean of the National Adjutancy Corp., a member of the Quality Assurance Team, Budget Committee and most recently served as Interim Controller of the church reporting directly to Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.  Bishop Glimp is known for his extensive community involvement in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is a member of the Police/Clergy of Philadelphia, Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity, which deals with social programs and progressive politics to enhance the lives of those in the community. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Incorporated.

Bishop Glimp is the proud husband to Lady Regina Hester-Glimp and they are the proud parents of three, Regine (now with the Lord), Cherelle and Jonathan.


Lady Regina GlimpLady Regina Glimp actively supports her husband Bishop Guy L. Glimp, the local church and the Jurisdictional family with her prayers, her commitment to excellence and love for the people of God.  She is committed to supporting the Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women Mother Katie S. Allen and the Department of Women in their spiritual endeavors.  At her local church, Sanctuary Church of God In Christ, she has provided leadership and support in serving as a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, mentoring youth as the Purity Class Leader and a Vacation Bible School teacher.

In 2003, Lady Glimp established the Sanctuary Women’s Fellowship, which hones in on the many challenges facing today’s women.  She has organized and participated in women’s conferences and retreats that focus on the love, goodness, and mercy of God, especially toward those who have been overwhelmed by the journey.  In 2004, Regina was licensed as an Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ and is blessed by God as a clear and anointed preacher and teacher of the Word of God.

Lady Glimp co-hosts a luncheon during the Jurisdiction’s Workers Meeting focused on acknowledging the work of non-profit organizations that meet the needs of the community it serves.  She served on several non-profit boards such as the YWCA of New Castle County, and the West End Neighborhood House (Rental Assistance Program) in Wilmington, Delaware.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations/Journalism from Shippensburg University and has extensive experience in the financial services industry.  She is also certified in Biblical Counseling and serves as a valuable resource in the counseling ministry.

Evangelist Glimp is dedicated to her husband of 37 years and the proud mother of three children: Regine (now with the Lord); Cherelle, and Jonathan, raising them according to Proverbs 22:6 and 1 Timothy 4:12.
